like anything you buy today, there is always something written in fine print that means, your product won't be covered under such and such eventualities.. now lets apply this to the watchtower.. what do you think the watchtower should have put in fine print so that the new jw's who just joined can see what awaits them.... this is what i would have written in fine print, if i was the watchtower.. your new journey starts here.
from now on, you dump all your worldy friends and family that don't want to become jw's.
once baptized, you can't look back and question the watchtower.
LOL those are some fine "fine print"!

the nation of islam began in 1930 with the arrival of wallace dodd fard to the black ghetto of detroit.
to the black underclass, fard presented himself as a merchant allegedly from the holy city of mecca.
he sold silks, hats, and other artifacts allegedly imported from his homeland, though elijah muhammad once stated that fard was not a silk peddler but a tailor of custom-made clothes.
how weird

i recently asked a jw to explain the discrepancies in the following scriptures between 1 corinthians 10:3-4 and 1 corinthians 10:9 in their new world translation:.
first i presented the scripture as it is rendered in another modern day translation, as it is rendered in the original greek and as it is rendered in the latin vulgate:.
1 corinthians 10:3-4 they all ate the same spiritual food, 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink.
was that the look?

i love this quote and often find myself using it on the kids and my dog.
it is from cats and dogs and james earl jones doing the voice over.
"not for you young puppy, for you the war is over".

i hope it's alright that i post a question, even though i've never had any affiliation with jw organization.
i have a friend who has been trying to convince me for years to study with jw.
i've been doing alot of research on jw and was just wondering if people here would be kind enough to tell me why they have decided to quit their affiliation with jw organization.
I was raised a JW, had a hard time making sense of what I was taught through childhood on, learned I couldn't discuss my doubts without facing negative consequences, didn't like how I was treated as a young adult, ran into some problems with elders when I wanted to get married, eloped, and gradually drifted away.
They didn't disfellowship me until years later, after my husband and I were in a serious car accident and were then divorced. Because I had stayed at my JW mother's to recuperate and my mother and I were making some small progress in healing our damaged relationship, the elders decided I was a spiritual danger to her and ganged up on me one evening in my apartment, giving me the third degree about my lifestyle and beliefs. They asked me to disassociate myself from the congregation. I wrote them a letter refusing and telling them I did not want to be cut off from my JW family and assuring them I was no danger to anyone.
They then disfellowshiped me without informing me themselves or giving me a chance to formally appeal the decision.
My mother died last year. She tried hard to shun me and her only biological grandchild while she was alive but didn't always succeed, so that left her feeling torn and guilty and always trying hard to "do the right thing". I was allowed to care for her the last 3 weeks of her life, and my JW family was quite nice, but now they are shunning me again for the most part. I also was not allowed to attend the dinner after my mother's funeral.

jesus had only 12 members attend and partake the last meal and memorial.there were no observers in the room.each disciple was given bread to eat and wine to drink.there is no mention of other people in the room who couldn't eat or drink the last meal.this was only for those who would partake of this meal.. why does the wts feel that observers need to be at this yearly event?
why can't the elders who(supposedly) have any 144,000 in their congregations, have a memorial with only these members?
if jesus wanted observers he would of had some at his last meal and requested that they be present from then on..
What a great observation and question!
Seems to me like a way of demonstrating and consolidating their (the GB's) power over the R&F in an alpha/omega dog sort of way.
